They were done by genuine master armorers and 'smiths, and the .308's were made to especially tight specifications. However, ALL the gas cylinders were bored out, and the pistons on the operating rod ends were all larger than specification.

The downside is your rifle is out of commission for a while. I’ve done a side by side comparison and the Shooting sight trigger is as good as the professional jobs on my rifles. The key is having GI hammer and trigger. This was voiced by the smiths doing my rifles, and has been repeated here in the forums.

Best 'smiths I've used include Accuracy Speaks in Mesa, Arizona. Polished aluminum is very visible. For a time, had an engraved sight cover, marked ".308/7.62" and filled with acrylic silver lacquer. Used both on a couple of rifles.
